All Together NM Cash Assistance Fund
All Together NM Cash Assistance Fund All Together NM Opens Cash Assistance Fund for New Mexicans Impacted by recent wildfires and flooding The New Mexico Coalition of Community Foundations and the All Together NM Fund are excited to partner with UpTogether to provide one-time cash assistance to New Mexicans, with priority to those who have been adversely impacted by the Calf Canyon and Hermit’s Peak wildfires, the largest fires in New Mexico history. The New Mexico Cash Assistance Fund application opens on Monday, November 14, and closes at 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Applications will be randomized for approval once the application window closes. Eligible households will each receive $1,000. The New Mexico Cash Assistance Fund will focus on the following counties for this program: San Miguel, Mora, Colfax, Lincoln, Sandoval, or Sierra. Applicants from San Miguel, Mora, or Colfax will be highly prioritized. To be eligible, applicants must reside in one of these counties in New Mexico. To apply for cash assistance, click here. As of June 2022, almost 900,000 acres had burned across the state, including 31 fires greater than 100 acres. Many New Mexican were displaced and grieved the loss of their homes and personal belongings all while trying to rebuild their lives. “This year was a difficult one for our neighbors, especially those in the north,” said Lisa O’Brien, Taos Community Foundation Director “Partnering with UpTogether to support New Mexicans was important for us to ensure residents are receiving money directly as they start to rebuild.” “Direct cash assistance supports communities with the relief they need and the flexibility to adapt in a crisis,” said Randy Royster, Albuquerque Community Foundation and New Mexico Community Trust President & CEO. “It also breaks down assistance barriers for New Mexicans who need help now.” UpTogether centers its work around the strengths and initiatives of people living in financially under-resourced communities and highlights the role social networks play in helping people accomplish their goals faster and achieve long-term socioeconomic mobility. “This program would have not been possible without the support of local residents, businesses and corporations who donated to the All Together NM Fund,” said Christopher Goett, Santa Fe Community Foundation President & CEO. “With their support, we will be able to give a total of $1,000,000 directly to New Mexico residents.” Questions about the direct cash assistance program? Congratulations Taos School Zone!
Taos School Zone In 2015, Taos School Zone, a collective-impact initiative that is a special project of Taos Community Foundation, began meeting with and surveying teachers, nonprofit organizations, school administrators, and community members to begin to understand their perspectives on the challenges to education in Taos County. We were asked by those groups to create a collective-impact report. This report contains observations gleaned from these interactions and sets forth ideas for a different model, one that might make it easier to put students and teachers at the forefront. Read the Taos School Zone Collective Impact Report here. This document represents the culmination of the extensive work done by TSZ in the six years since it’s founding. It is a document that asks, “What If?” we worked together as a community to remove some of the roadblocks our children face in achieving an excellent and equitable education. We, and our sponsor Taos Community Foundation, look forward to the community discussions that will be generated as a result of this work, and to seeing them move forward in the coming years. At this time, having accomplished so much as a TCF special project, Taos School Zone will step back from its active role in the community. We very much appreciate the work of the TSZ Advisory Council members (past and present) as well as the members of our support teams, and are especially grateful for the support and encouragement we’ve received from the entire Taos County community over the past five years. In addition to publishing the Taos County Education Snapshot, Taos School Zone’s accomplishments include: Kickstarting the community school movement in Taos County, resulting in more than $1 million of funding for Taos County schools and providing essential support services for students and their families; Developing the interactive an website, which gathers in one place for educators and parents valuable information about nonprofits who serve schoolkids; Providing significant support for teachers, including funding board certification and professional development, and conducting social and emotional wellness surveys of teachers and staff; Creating a series of mindfulness videos for use by teachers and staff during the COVID pandemic; Regularly convening nonprofits, resulting in countless collaborations that help them work more effectively. We hope and believe that publishing the Taos County Education Snapshot will help every member of our community understand the critical need for community involvement in our education system, and will inspire new leadership to step forward and take action on the areas outlined in the report. Sincerely, Taos School Zone Advisory Council Taos School Zonewww.schoolzonetaos.org Taos School Zone was a collective impact project, a special project of Taos Community Foundation, PO Box 1925, Taos NM 87571.

Taos Community Foundation recently received accreditation with the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence. National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® establish legal, ethical, effective practices for community foundations everywhere. Taos Community Foundation offers a range of charitable funds, allowing donors to advance a cause, support an individual organization, provide flexible support for community needs or recommend individual grants. In addition to affirming the organization’s philanthropic services, the accreditation validates Taos Community Foundation’s grantmaking practices for the nonprofit community. Through philanthropic services, strategic investments and community leadership, Taos Community Foundation helps people support the causes they care about, now and for generations to come. For more information on Taos Community Foundation, please visit www.taoscf.org. “Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process,” said Randy Royster, board member of the Council on Foundations. “This accreditation is a significant accomplishment that indicates Taos Community Foundation demonstrates a commitment to transparency, quality, integrity and accountability as it carries out its mission.” The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® program requires community foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grantmaking and administration. With over 500 community foundations already accredited nationwide, the program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors, as well as to their legal and financial advisors. “This is important to our work in community,” said Lisa O’Brien, Taos Community Foundation Director. “When people make a charitable bequest or establish a fund, they are putting their trust in us. They are counting on us to manage the investment wisely, honor their charitable wishes. The National Standards accreditation says our house is in order and that we are operating above and beyond what the law requires.” Taos Community Foundation connects people, and opportunities, generating resources to build a more creative, caring, and thriving community. “Grantmaking is an important investment in community” said O’Brien. “Our integrity in doing this work with accreditation, demonstrates we are a reliable partner, as we work together to meet the changing need of our community”. National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® is the first program of its kind for charitable foundations in the United States. For immediate release: 2/1/2021 For more information, contact: TCF Staff info@taoscf.org Feb. 1, 2021 – Taos Ski Valley has pledged $46,300 for charity through its annual season pass sale and will donate the funds to the Taos Community Foundation (TCF). TCF will put the money toward its Fund for Taos, which is dedicated to supporting the local area amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During its annual season pass sale, Taos Ski Valley pledged to donate $5 for each Midweek Pass, $10 for each Weekday Plus Pass, and $25 for each Unlimited Pass. Collectively, the sales generated $46,300 for The Fund for Taos. Since March 2020, the Fund For Taos has awarded over $550,000 to help with the coronavirus pandemic response including food security, senior services, and healthcare. “Our highest priority throughout this entire pandemic has been to put the well-being of our community, staff, and guests first, and one way we’re doing that is through our continued commitment to financial assistance for our local charities,” said David Norden, CEO of Taos Ski Valley. “We are sincerely grateful to our passholders who helped raise these funds, as well as to all the volunteers, community workers, and healthcare workers who have selflessly shouldered so much of the burden of this pandemic. We are committed to doing what we can to support them, and our entire region.” Including funds from the season pass sale, Taos Ski Valley has donated more than $71,000 to the TCF in the last year. In the spring of 2020, amid the urgent stay-at-home orders in New Mexico, Taos Ski Valley pledged to match local community donations to the fund up to $25,000 through the Taos Ski Valley Foundation, the New Mexico affiliate of Louis Bacon’s Moore Charitable Foundation. With matching funds, the community and the resort together donated $114,000. “Taos Ski Valley’s ongoing support of the Taos Community Foundation has been essential during one of the difficult times in our existence, and we are extremely thankful for their generous donations,” said Lisa O’Brien, director of the Taos Community Foundation. “The ski resort has also given back through employee service projects, local education efforts, and leadership through its active role on the local area EC-COAD (Enchanted Circle – Community Organizations Active in Disaster).” To learn more about Taos Ski Valley’s commitment to community and charitable giving, including its role as world’s first and only B Corp certified ski resort, please visit: https://www.skitaos.com/discover-taos/our-purpose/commitment-to-community.
